Play Time With DCOTA

Fashion designers often find inspiration in the works of interior designers, so I was more than thrilled when DCOTA (Design Center Of The Americas) Invited me  to be part of their fashion show and asked me to create two outfits inspired by an interior designer and his fabrics. They paired me with John Roselli & associates showroom and with the works of John Robshaw, who is famous for his woodblock printing techniques, his mix of fabrics and textures and his perfect use of color; Take a look at some of his ads below; I love them for being so quirky, fun and different! and of course, they remind me of India and that I really need to go there soon.

To me this project is a lot of fun and although it is definitely out of my comfort zone because I rarely work with prints, I’m sure it will push me to create something outside of the box. It took me seconds to take inspiration from the fabrics (all hand printed in India) and pictures from John Robshaw’s blog and ads!

What I’m Thankful For This Year

I am a very lucky girl because every year I have lots of things for which I’m thankful and happy for. Last year one of my dreams came true, I was able to open my studio and boutique. I can’t lie to you, it has been very hard, as most small business owners say, you end up working 24/7 and sometimes frustration can take a hold of your best senses! But with hard work and dedication I have been able to grow my business and slowly turn it into a small fashion line!

Recently, to commemorate my first year in business, I decided to give my studio a makeover, and host a bloggers tea party, take a look below for our new look and drop me a line with your thoughts!

Rockstar For A Day

Top from my studio, Pants Saintchic, Lips Nars Red Lizard.

There are some things that are meant to be together, like this super feminine sequined gold top and this pair of Saintchic Skull pants! This outfit brakes with the typical holiday dress, and gives an edge necessary to survive even the most boring office party!

I have to add, the red lips are a must this season; please don’t go anywhere without red lips, sequins and bright smile!

Turbans Turbans Turbans!

A couple of weeks ago I asked all of my Instagram friends which fabrics, textures or colors they wanted for the fall turban headbands and many replied: red velvet! So I made it happen. At the fabric store I found a rich hue of blue velvet and a fun black velvet with sparks of gold. I hope you like them!

What’s different about my turbans is that I use a lot of fabric for them, so they look full, and never like a simple headband. If you are not sure if a turban headband is for you, simply contact me and I can tell you which color or fabric is better for you. Some blondes look great with black and blue, while brunettes look better with red or royal blues… Christmas tip: these make great girlfriend’s gifts!

You can shop for them at the shop section of my website, or on Etsy: http://www.carolinabenoit.etsy.com

Have a great day! And spread the love please!

Daniella’s Picks

Daniella, our fabulous merchandiser, and a self-described “beauty-freak” picks her favorite items from Carolina Benoit’s store…  We’re all fighting over her picks!

Dani’s first outfit inspired by a Sunday stroll was to die for! All the team was crazy about her dress, which she bought at a vintage shop in Ibiza. This cute vintage dress was the perfect match for our Lola Bow belt! (and main inspiration for our Spring 2013 collection) And what about her prim and neat nude Miu miu pumps? All we’re saying is we wish for more Sundays when we can dress like this!

While changing and putting on makeup, Daniella pulled out our turban headband! She looked so natural with it! We had to make it part of the photo-shoot! We are thinking of re-making the turbans for the holidays! What do you think? Should we?

Her second outfit is perfect for Miami: electric blue top, white denim pants, and killer YSL’s, so simple and easily put together but still very sartorial! We specially loved the details at the neck of this blouse! Studs for the holidays are a must! (you can shop for the shirt HERE)

The silk chiffon slit dress was her choice to go to dinner, and you can’t really see it here, but she paired the dress which has a slit at the front, with a delicate french lace bra. We loved how she found the balance between sensual and classic without trying too hard; Isn’t that what we are all looking for? (Shop for the dress HERE)
