Play Time With DCOTA

Fashion designers often find inspiration in the works of interior designers, so I was more than thrilled when DCOTA (Design Center Of The Americas) Invited me  to be part of their fashion show and asked me to create two outfits inspired by an interior designer and his fabrics. They paired me with John Roselli & associates showroom and with the works of John Robshaw, who is famous for his woodblock printing techniques, his mix of fabrics and textures and his perfect use of color; Take a look at some of his ads below; I love them for being so quirky, fun and different! and of course, they remind me of India and that I really need to go there soon.

To me this project is a lot of fun and although it is definitely out of my comfort zone because I rarely work with prints, I’m sure it will push me to create something outside of the box. It took me seconds to take inspiration from the fabrics (all hand printed in India) and pictures from John Robshaw’s blog and ads!

What I’m Thankful For This Year

I am a very lucky girl because every year I have lots of things for which I’m thankful and happy for. Last year one of my dreams came true, I was able to open my studio and boutique. I can’t lie to you, it has been very hard, as most small business owners say, you end up working 24/7 and sometimes frustration can take a hold of your best senses! But with hard work and dedication I have been able to grow my business and slowly turn it into a small fashion line!

Recently, to commemorate my first year in business, I decided to give my studio a makeover, and host a bloggers tea party, take a look below for our new look and drop me a line with your thoughts!

Thank you Daniella Garcia, who is bringing great energy and ideas to our studio and helped me host the most fabulous blogger’s tea party!

Thank you to my husband and family who believe in my dreams more than anyone in the world!

And thank YOU! for reading my blog, following me and supporting my dream! You are really helping me make this happen!

Have a happy thanksgiving with your family or friends ❤

XOXO

Daniella’s Picks

Daniella, our fabulous merchandiser, and a self-described “beauty-freak” picks her favorite items from Carolina Benoit’s store…  We’re all fighting over her picks!

Dani’s first outfit inspired by a Sunday stroll was to die for! All the team was crazy about her dress, which she bought at a vintage shop in Ibiza. This cute vintage dress was the perfect match for our Lola Bow belt! (and main inspiration for our Spring 2013 collection) And what about her prim and neat nude Miu miu pumps? All we’re saying is we wish for more Sundays when we can dress like this!

While changing and putting on makeup, Daniella pulled out our turban headband! She looked so natural with it! We had to make it part of the photo-shoot! We are thinking of re-making the turbans for the holidays! What do you think? Should we?

Her second outfit is perfect for Miami: electric blue top, white denim pants, and killer YSL’s, so simple and easily put together but still very sartorial! We specially loved the details at the neck of this blouse! Studs for the holidays are a must! (you can shop for the shirt HERE)

The silk chiffon slit dress was her choice to go to dinner, and you can’t really see it here, but she paired the dress which has a slit at the front, with a delicate french lace bra. We loved how she found the balance between sensual and classic without trying too hard; Isn’t that what we are all looking for? (Shop for the dress HERE)

Styling: Daniella Garcia, Assistant Photo-shoot: Slava Album, Photography: Jackie Segedin.

A special thank you to Jackie, our very talented and passionate photographer, you can follow her on Facebook HERE, and twitter: @Threebrooklyn, and her website: www.threebrooklyn.com

Thank you Sushi Siam Brickell for allowing us to take pictures.

Casual Walk

Today was an amazing  day!   I went for a walk on Brickell Bay, and got some gorgeous apricot roses from my husband for no special reason! They opened beautifully! I desperately needed the rest this weekend, because I’ll be working like crazy this week, and traveling next week to a secret destination, which I will be revealing soon, (I am having a giveaway around my trip so get exited!)

What did you do this weekend? How do you make an average weekend special?

MMIF Week

This is me with our awesome intern who is a fashion design student. She is wearing my pleated silver mini skirt to show support! Isn’t she amazing?

The runway surrounded by many different chairs, no models yet…

I was lucky to be wearing  a white dress and my neon messenger! The “blue room” helped me shine!

Messenger Bag Kate Spade, Shoes Cole Haan, Dress Sample, Sunglasses Ray Ban, Belt J.Crew

The Carolina Benoit design team, and WEAR&HOUSE were invited as VIP guests to Brickell Fashion week, which was actually held at the Design District (Don’t ask).  Brickell fashion week is a new show which supports local fashion designers and design students, the event is very hip, young and has a NYC vibe.

Unfortunately I can’t attend the two runway shows this weekend, but this blog: www.thatscoolblog.com will be bringing the runway to you! Discover local new designers, photographers, and the Miami fashion scene.

Have a great Memorial day weekend and stay tuned next week for an exiting post!

Summer Frocks

Night to day or day to night, in Miami you need both

Last season, last bamboo dress

Sorbet shades

I wanted to give you guys a tour of my studio. This is where I design, and make the clothes you buy or like! Tell me what you guys love, or hate (any advice is great!)

During the past weeks I have worked on the SPRING/SUMMER collection, honestly I am very late, but then again, is always summer in Miami. What you see in the racks is the collection,  it looks beautiful with all the sorbet shades, and creamy pastels! The collection will be available to pre-order online the coming weeks, and in store since May 20th (NOW).  Some items are ready to ship, some others take 2 weeks to make, some others 4 weeks, so keep in mind that buying a one of a kind takes time and patience 🙂

If you are in Miami, don’t hesitate to come, enjoy some tea, or wine and buy one of a kind items! We are open by appointment. Closed on Saturdays.

Lately I’ve been obsessed with Elvis Presley (Apparently I am spending too much time with my grandmother who is crazy about him too) I loved dressing up all black and white and dancing a bit while taking the pictures… That is the great thing about fashion, you can have lots of fun, play dress up and dream a little when wearing a unique outfit.

What is your favorite era, fashion, period, decade, style to dress up in? fill me in…
